Ryan Neil of Mirai (American bonsai) has a display of his work at the Portland (OR) Japanese Garden now through June 19. The specimens are very old, wild-collected native trees trained by him for several years. The selections on display will be changed to a different group on June 4th, so two visits may be in order! You may find the exhibit in the outdoor courtyard of the Garden, framed by mature firs, with Mount Hood in the distance.
Mirai is a premier full-service American bonsai nursery and school just outside of Portland.Ryan studied bonsai in a six-year apprenticeship under world-renowned Bonsai Master Mr. Masahiko Kimura (of Saitama prefecture, Japan). He brings American innovation and plant material to this ancient Japanese art form.
